Producing accurate and timely shop drawings remains the greatest challenge in steel construction today and the challenge is increasing. Demanding schedules and budgets can frequently force construction to begin well before construction documents are finalized. Economical steel construction requires shop drawings to within a 1/16” tolerance; however, incomplete documents not only prevent this from happening but can tend to dominate a project team’s efforts and raise frustrations needlessly (we all like making progress instead of addressing problems or setbacks). Zimkor recognizes fabricators actually produce two distinct products; the actual work AND the shop drawing to define that work!  Because of this absolute we assign a Project Coordinator (PC) as well as a Project Manager  (PM) to all of our projects. The PC’s sole responsibility is to facilitate the production of accurate shop drawings to support the required production schedule. Our staff works with the very best and trusted detailing firms who support our philosophy, possess the latest technology and have the proven track record to back it up. Like our clients, we seek the best value from all of our project partners including our trusted detailer partners. Our PMs and PCs manage the work tightly, communicate regularly and do all we can to ensure the project is a success. Our PC/PM support doesn’t end there however; the team follows the project and supports your jobsite/our erector until our scope is complete and accepted.

Zimkor is a full service fabrication facility capable of all required sawing, thermal cutting, punching, drilling, coping, cambering, shearing, bending, welding and finishing operations. Our shop craftsmen average over 20 years of experience with Zimkor and many of our mechanics have been with us 3 decades and counting. We continuously train, teach and promote from within so it is not uncommon to see such low turnover in our shop nor to see shop hands skilled in multiple operations. Zimkor prides itself as welding experts; we welcome your most complex work which requires the skill of well trained and abundantly qualified welders. We build complete structural frames, architecturally exposed structural work, stairs/rails, misc. metals and architectural metals; we work with steel as well as non-ferrous metals such as stainless, aluminum, brass and bronze. We routinely enter into agreements to supply the FULL needs of any given project (and avoid having multiple fabricators involved with the same project).  Zimkor owns a formidable fleet of trailers upon which we can economically store and stage your project well ahead of time for delivery/offloading at the project’s required timeline (Zimkor is not at the mercy of rented trailers and nor captive to carriers whose priorities may not match the project’s).

Zimkor works with a select group of pre-qualified regional erectors to install our work. Such firms likewise have demonstrated to Zimkor and the construction community their qualifications and experience; we work hard to match up the right erector to the right project considering location, type of work and select skills each team can bring to the table to suit the project in question. Safety, quality, manpower and offsite support are all absolutes Zimkor will insist upon to suit your project. No firm works for Zimkor who doesn’t possess the minimum required insurance coverages, banking, bonding, safety, staffing and quality capabilities. Only firms who meet those minimums AND demonstrate the highest regard for professionalism, integrity and a solid work ethic will set foot on Zimkor job sites. That’s the bottom line for us; we recognize the erector hanging our steel has to represent our interests on that site as we wish them to.  We don’t stop there however; we pride ourselves for supplementing our staff with our own Field Representation that can work closely with select sites/projects/erectors that might require that extra level of support when the situation calls for it.
